Text for the May 2017 Presidents Message is as follows:

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE                                                                                                                   May 2017                 Colonial Region

On April 22, 2017 club members gathered at the Delaney Antique Clock Shop in West Townsend , Mass.  We got a personal tour by our own club member, Tom Dorward.  The retail shop holds hundreds of antique clocks dating as far back as the 1700s, but most are in the 1800s or early 1900s.  The most expensive was listed at $55,000.  Most are running, but not on the same time, so chiming is random and not loud at all.  There were ships clocks, large bank clocks, grandfather clocks, calendar clocks, the 1st time clock, pocket clocks and many others.  All were for sale.  Next door was an antique /flea market type barn which we wandered through.  A short meeting at the home of Lisa and Tom Dorward followed.  Tom showed the club his own clock shop where he repairs and sells antique clocks part time.

We have a new member for you to add to the roster.  Please welcome Tim and Patti Laraway from New Lebanon, NY.  They are the new owners of a 1937 4dr Plymouth sedan and very excited to get out and tour.  Unfortunately, we lost a longtime member, John Gilman last fall.  There is more news in the minutes, not included here, so please read them.

Bruce Nichols is our representative to the MAAC association and attended the recent meeting.  He brought a list of the current bills under consideration in Boston which would affect our car hobby.  The subjects involved are number plates, inspection fees, vin #s on customs, noise level, and other vehicle related amendments.

Our May gathering at the Thompson Motor Speedway promises to be another fun day.  Those attending last year all wanted to “do-it-again”.  Meet early at the guest reservation booth, bring your antique, and park on the show field.  We hope to again be able to take a spin around the race track , but it is weather permitting.  Details are in the minutes and on the web site.  Reservations required through Bruce Nichols.
