Minutes

On August 20th Mike & Margaret Ann O’Connor held a cookout at their home.  Attending were: Mike and Margaret Ann, Doug & Natalie Crook, Jim Dunlea, Bruce and Judi Nichols, and our guest Speaker William Ellis president of MAAC.

Secretary’s Minutes were approved.   Treasurer’s report was read and approved.

Plymouth 400 was discussed and we decided not to participate.  We just do not have force to do same.

It was stated that there was no September Meeting planned.  Bruce and Judi are volunteering for the Lion’s Club Car Show at Windle Field in Millbury and Jim suggested we do the Car Show on the 17th of September and voted yes by the members present.  Meeting at CVS parking lot at 10:15 and leaving for next door at 10:30.

Our regular  meeting October 15th is Water’s Farm Day’s.  It is a Farm Day and Car Show Function Day in Sutton, Massachusetts.

Palmer’s Christmas Party.  More to follow.

Bruce suggested a $50 donation be made to MAAC   And Jim Dunlea seconded with the remaining members voting yes.  A check will be sent.

Doug proposed to adjourn and it was seconded. We did lunch in Mike and Margaret Ann’s diner, William Ellis president of MAAC spoke on MAAC’s efforts for the antique car hobby.  This was followed by an ice cream run to Meola’s Ice Cream,  voted Best ice cream in Worcester County.

Respectfully submitted,

Judi Nichols

Colonial Region Meeting 8/20/17

No September meeting had been scheduled!  Jim Dunlea suggested the meeting be held at the Millbury, MA Lion’s Foundation Car Show.  Members present voted yes.  Members will meet at the CVS Pharmacy lot next to the car show field at 10:15 am and enter the field at 10:30 am.

Meetings scheduled for the remainder of 2017 include: September 17 Millbury Lion’s Car Show 33 Canal St Millbury, October 15 Water’s Farm Days Water Road Sutton, TBD November Wright’s Chicken Farm, December 3 Christmas Party at Don and Jane Palmer’s in Tolland, CT.

Thank you to Mike & Margaret Ann O’Connor for hosting a poorly attended meeting at their home.  Some missed the meeting due to health issues, some missed due to family commitments.  Where were the rest of you?  The Colonial Region will not survive without more active members and by attracting new members..

The speaker for this meeting was William Ellis the President of MAAC (Mass Association of Auto Clubs).  MAAC is a strong advocate for the old car hobby this could effect the hobby in other states where there is no group like MAAC.

William was to meet with Governor Baker on Wednesday, August 23rd about a Bill that would exempt antique cars 75 years and older from the Annual Mass State Inspection.

MAAC is also advancing a Bill to allow restored year of manufacture license plates to be restored.  Currently only original plates are allowed and must be approved by the RMV.
