PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE August 2017 Colonial Region
The weather was perfect for wandering the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks , CT then indulging in ice cream, as usual. First the members enjoyed a fantastic lunch at Sophia’s Italian restaurant. Just look at the pictures on our web site. I certainly would go there again if in the area. It was really great to see Steve and Nancy Gray again. The club caravanned to the museum and got to inspect some unusual jets, old planes, other vehicles , motors and equipment. Thanks to Jane and Don Palmer for arranging that tour.

Our September meeting is open with no plan or host at this time. If anyone would like to host an event , meeting or tour in September, please let me or one of the officers know by the August meeting.

I am sending out a “special request” to all our members. We have been discussing hosting a National Tour in 2019 in the Plymouth, Mass area , with trips to the Heritage Plantation Museum in Sandwich on the Cape, Plimouth Plantation in Plymouth and other activities. This project would require a lot of organizing, coordination, leg work and manpower. The active members of our club are not able to pull this off. We have been offered 2 members of the Hudson Valley club to help during the meet. Unless we have more members of the Colonial region step up, there is no way we can pull this off. Time is running out to commit and lots of planning needs to start now. I need a commitment by October.

The August meeting sounds like it will be interesting. Mike has a garage full of auto memorabilia, antique cars and an authentic restored diner on his lawn. He is expecting to have the president of the Mass. Antique Auto Club as a speaker. We are members of this club which keeps track of bills in the statehouse affecting antique autos , and lobbies on our behalf. These bills cover gasoline ingredients , number plate rules, registration , costs, inspections, emissions, etc. Some people must hate old cars. More details are in the minutes. Please notify Bruce Nichols by August 14 if you plan on attending the August 20th meeting. ( 50 Deepdale Rd., Worcester, Ma. 01606) (508)865-2238 = Bruce

The club plans on taking our antiques to the Memorial Car Show at the Waters Farm Days on October 15th. There are plenty of activities to enjoy while there. More details to follow. Judy
