  1. Hi,
I have a mid 1960s big block mopar distributor and thought that the method of removing the bushing would be the same except the tap isn’t big enough. I went with my biggest tap 1/2″ and that barely scored the bushing. Any thoughts?
BTW, just found your car club! I live in South Florida and there isnt much support down here. Great info and diagrams. I will join of course.
    Thanks

    1. I compared (in the 65 Dart/Coronet Service Manual) several items for Slant Six & 383:
      1) Chrysler Tool used to extract distributor bushing
      2) Chrysler Tool used to install distributor bushing
      3) Distributor Bushing ID diameter both at .5000

They were a total match on all accounts.

I do not have a 383 distributor to know for sure but it sounds like your 1/2 tap is just going to fit into the ID of the bushing and not cut into the bushing itself consequently you may have to expand your tap inventory slightly.

Always verify first that you have the original distributor; the Service Manual lists what will fit your big block in the specs section any the rest of the distributor characteristics for that model.

      Don
