At this point there was a large number of cars traveling in small groups sequenced to minimize long lines on the highways. The number of cars consisted of those starters from the East Coast (minus any that pealed off from the ranks along the way) plus those that jumped in.

Note the shorts, short sleeves and bright sun. I wonder if any of those cars had factory Air Conditioning?
