PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE –  I’m amazed how quickly the summer passed when I turned the calendar to September.  Some folks love to enjoy the hot summer weather, but I am a true New Englander and prefer the cooler temps. I think the old cars like the milder weather also and many of them let you know if you push them in the heat.

Our August meeting was one of those days when most folks preferred the air conditioned car.  A short ride in the antique wasn’t bad if you didn’t get stuck in the sun for long.  The Ruops Compound was a great place to be on a hot day.  Lots of shade, air conditioning inside, and a pond close by for a short fishing derby. 10 of us gathered for some great food and visiting. Only 6 of us tried fishing and only 3 of those caught fish.  It was a fun learning experience and no one got in trouble, except to snag some weeds.  The GPS got a little confused and sent us to the right street but the wrong house.  Thanks Vince and Carol for hosting.

Don Palmer, our web maintainer, shared that he has been getting tons or “robocomments” which have ads attached. Luckily, the web site sets them into a separate category, but they infiltrate every topic.

We have a new member from Sterling, Mass.  We welcome Richard and Mary Michniewicz to our club. They own a 1940 Plymouth P10.  Address is; 8 Ashton Lane in Sterling.  01564    978-422-7710

Next Meeting is on Sunday September 15 at the Dunlea farm; 30 Pulpit Rock Rd, Woodstock, CT.    We will have a picnic meeting, then visit the local historic Rosewood House.  Arrive at noon.
